Catchlight

Character work for a little scifi project which looks like I could actually make happen. Sort of reworking bits of a previous proto-project, concept art for which is buried somewhere in this tumblr.
Two different versions of the same character. I guess I really like that nose shape lately, too.
More idle scifi character design

I had an idea for something about a person who has some weird interdimensional parasite take over her body bit by bit. Have a very clear idea in my head of what her arm is supposed to look like, and couldn’t quite get it right on paper…
Artifice Inks

Artifice is a massive space station, consisting of three rings spinning together around a central hub, creating three different degrees of centrifugal force acting as artificial gravity. Several times the inhabitable surface area of the earth.
I’ve been chipping away at this for a couple of weeks I think. Needs some touch-ups before I get to coloring; it is not perfectly circular in places. Drawing is like 10 inches high.
Monro & Horkos

Getting more of a feel for these guys. Should work on some set design stuff next I guess.
Looking at this again I’m not happy with the big guy’s eyes; they are too normal-looking and big.
The Artifice

I’ve been working on a pretty big project in Google Sketchup for a while now, and I’ve gotten a pretty good handle on the program at this point. This is something quick I made on the side, trying to get an idea out. It’s a sort of space station…
Space Guy Again

oh it’s just ENDLESS. Another character study/lighting thing, whatever.
Space dudes

Warmup drawing made in several passes, fiddling with a scifi idea I have which is, at this point, little more than aesthetic, and which I haven’t put as much effort as I should have into writing in earnest.
The alien you might recognize from an earlier post. I think his name is Than, with a non-vocalized “th,” as in “thin” but not in “that.” Tried to design some sensible pressure-suit for him. The plating on the chest is supposed to mimic his weird ribcage. The human is named Monro. This was mostly an excuse to do weird lighting stuff.
