Rice Boy Candles on Topatoco; some new things with some old characters from Rice Boy.
The Island Book Art Books are now for sale!
They come in a set: Making Island Book is 40 pages long and densely-packed with development art and commentary. Vessels is 20 pages long and is a quiet series of still lifes from the comic. Both of these are carefully made to loosely introduce the atmosphere and look of Island Book, without giving away really any narrative details at all.
I’ll have these at SPX in a few weeks in DC. And Island Book itself, a 280-page fantasy-adventure graphic novel, will be available in Spring 2019.
Some opposite Jesuses. Doing a ton of drawing lately to figure out how I’ll draw this book!! excited excited
Hey, ok, I am working on a new book.
The Harrowing of Hell is a graphic novel being published by Iron Circus Comics. It’s a “deconstructive” adaptation of the Christian mythological story of Christ’s descent into Hell, heavily prioritizing the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus, and the Gospel According to Mark: mostly agreed-upon to be the earliest canonical account of Jesus’ life, and a piece of literature and philosophy that I really love.
I am obsessed with this project in a way I haven’t been with anything in a while. I think it will be good and surprising and probably difficult. I’ll be pretty consistently noisy here and twitter and elsewhere throughout the process. I hope you like it.
I would like to make a deconstructive graphic novel adaptation of the Harrowing of Hell ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrowing_of_Hell )
Digital editions of all of my books are now available on Topatoco! The big main things I’ve worked on and a bunch of art books and short projects of varying obscurity.
Added a couple new pages to this e-book of Overside art I’ve had available for a few years! Somewhere over 120 pages.
