TCAF & VanCAF were both great, charming, well-run shows this year, and I recommend them forever to anybody around Toronto or Vancouver!

I finished my series of little island drawings, and the whole set is available as a PDF on Gumroad for two dollars, as well as a similar project from last year called Aftermath.
This project was almost hypnotic for me, and I guess represents my first attempt to make something purely “about” the particular sort of escapism that feels like the most fundamental thing that makes me want to make things. Some of the islands are empty and some have large abandoned structures on them, and there’s meant to be a nice sort of rhythm through the book.
It will be in print for Spring 2014, also! I hope you like it!!

Here are three sets of robots I made last year for fun, and some examples of the reference material I used for them! Ugh I love robots!!!
I got a whole ton of sticker sheets of these 12 robots made; they are very nice and shiny and I have too many. I will just give you a bunch of robot stickers if you order a book or something in the next few weeks.

I couldn’t find a place in NYC that does large-format scanning for any reasonable amount of money, so I scanned the Orrery drawing myself in like 15 parts. It took a long time.
Here are some more process images: cleaning up linework, blocking everything out in flat colors, and marking some layers of distance to work with later. More nitty-gritty coloring details soon.
