This is the cover art for my NEW BENIGN KINGDOM ART BOOK. We just launched the Kickstarter for the first Benign Kingdom publication in a few years: a set of 32-page art books by Meredith Gran, Dustin Harbin, Becky Dreistadt, and myself. (Becky and I did Benign Kingdom art books back in 2012, too)
Thank you for having a look and spreading the word!! we back baby
Just flat colors for now. It’s that guy from the cover of my Benign Kingdom book! Those, by the way, will be for sale on the Rice Boy site before too long, and we’re working on getting an actual Benign Kingdom site up and working.
The Kickstarter just launched for BENIGN KINGDOM, a publishing project I’m starting with fellow webcomics artists Yuko Ota, Becky Dreistadt, and KC Green. Four art books (the cover of mine above), one hardcover collecting the set, and the foundation of something that could be really big and exciting.
My section of the Benign Kingdom crest poster we put together for the Kickstarter, choppy edges and all. This is meant to go along with my cover.
My friends! One week remains on the Benign Kingdom Kickstarter! We are so far over goal that the books will have Significantly Higher production values! The more over-goal we get, the larger a foundation we have for future projects that we are all very excited about and about which you will also be very excited!!
So if you’re interested in supporting this project and getting the art books at a lower price than they’ll be later, check it out! Thanks everyone so much for your support and for spreading the word on this thing.
Benign Kingdom will have a consulate at the Emerald City Comicon this weekend. You may find it at booths F12-F15.
We’ll have Spring 2012 and Fall 2012 individual art books, collections, and prints. We’ll also have a few advanced copies of the Spring 2013 individual art books.
If you are in Seattle this weekend we would love to see you! Benign Kingdom is also sponsoring the Kracklefest party so that is super cool.
I (Evan) will be at the Consulate with my own books, as per usual. ECCC is a great show and I’m excited that it’ll be Benign Kingdom’s biggest appearance yet!
This is one of a few images that will show up in my Benign Kingdom art book that have never been published online anywhere! 24 hours remain on the Benign Kingdom Kickstarter, if you’d like to support it and get the books at a discount! Thanks everyone for your support so far; this thing has gone better than we could have hoped!!
This is an alien design for one of several embryonic science fiction ideas in my head. They communicate with their petals in a complex adapted threat display.
A sense of continuity between the images! I’m still doing the same sort of work, but hopefully smarter and better and I’m in a different place than I was in 2012. Benign Kingdom was itself is in a very new place, and we’re very excited about the triumphant return that this Kickstarter represents.
