Damage done so far to cheap luggage I bought off ebay (my recent Chicago trip being its first outing):

• Main handles on both bags have snapped off, revealing key metal components to be actually made of plastic cleverly disguised as metal.

• One wheel has broken off on each of the two bags, but they still drag ok. I fear, however, for the longevity of its now-naked corner.

• The extending handle thing on one of them has been bent or something, and is now stuck at half-mast, I fear forever.

I did not expect these to be top-of-the-line products, but I will say that I am very impressed at what spectacularly miserable failures they are at doing the things luggage is supposed to do.
