Thinking about costume changes for Junti from the comic I am making. I’m on her last scene in book 2 of the comic!
I’ve been trying to put a lot of emphasis on clothing and how it signifies status among the Surin, to the point of many of Junti’s scenes beginning with meticulous focus on her putting on or adjusting her uniform, etc. I like motifs.
The second book of Vattu is ending very soon!!!! Stuff is HAPPENING!
Book 3 of Vattu: The Lantern & the Shadow begins on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15! You can keep abreast of updates by RSS or Tumblr or Facebook or (with a somewhat lower signal-to-noise ratio) Twitter.
I’ve also put up Monday’s page earlier on Patreon, for backers at any level. I plan to keep doing this, whenever I’m ahead in the comic at all!
Book 3 is some of the most complicated writing I’ve ever done, so this break has been very good time to work on it (also worked on this). Very excited to get it out there.

(FYI– we are now in something like the closing sequences of Book 3 [of 4] of Vattu. I don’t know exactly how long Book 3 will be! But I hope to be moving towards getting it in print in Spring 2018. We’ll seeeee)

Very weird looking at my inking from 2006 and 2013 at the same time! A lot of early Vattu looks a little too meticulous to me now; I think I’ve figured out a nice, bolder middle ground for inking in the last couple hundred pages.
